Omar Khayyam - Rubaiyat

Found the video first and remembered the book of poetry I had many years ago. I have a natural fascination for the sufi dancers. Children dance like this all the time and whilst mainstream Islam may not have a great name the Sufis have always felt “wondrous” to me.

And if you have ever tried dancing like this - I totally understand why they do it!!! It’s BLISS creating on a “feeling level”.

Depending on the sources of reference that one chooses, Omar Khayyam is believed to have composed somewhere between 200 and 600 Rubaiyat (quatrains). Some are known to be authentic and are attributed to him, while others seem to be combinations or corruption of his poetry, and whose origins are more dubious.
The Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam is among the few masterpieces that has been translated into most languages, including English, French, German, Italian, Russian, Chinese, Hindi, Arabic, and Urdu.Read more at www.okonlife.com

The Magic of the Mundane - A Nice Reminder

I like the author’s comment about think of your list as “a journey”. Basically, that means everyday could be an adventure - the extraordinary in the mundane??? I like the inspiration from this.

When it comes to poetry forms, the list poem is one of the most straightforward.
Of course, a list has to be something more than just a list to be a poem. A grocery list is just a grocery list unless it says something that the reader cares about. This is where the challenge comes in. You want your list poem to have meaning. One way to accomplish this is to think of the list as a journey, that there is a path each item on the list takes that ultimately leads to the final item. Another way to look at the list is as revelation. Each item reveals a little more about the poet or the subject until at the end you are left with a complete picture.Read more at www.poewar.com
